Background
On December 26th a Tsunami affected large parts of Cordaid supports several projects run by local partners in the field of health and care, peace and conflict and access to markets. Though these partners were not operating in Aceh, Cordaid did provide support to some of them in the direct aftermath of disaster, as they could respond with their expertise to some of the inditified emergency needs. In addition, from its country office in Jakarta Cordaid conducted an assessment in the area with several consultants. Given the large scale needs and the amounts of fund generated by the Dutch public, Cordaid was able to positively respond to identified needs and the request by the goverment to conduct large scale emergency and rehabilitions programmes. This has resulted two programmes. Cordaid established an office for these programmes in The structural development department has been and remains closely involved in the development of the projects in relation to the objective of linkage between emergency programming and structural development. The departments focus on the integration of disaster risk management, in line with Cordaid's policy and expertise.
