December 24th, 2004 Tsunami in the Province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD)
Prior to the tsunami in the Province of NAD, Cordaid had been implementing project throughout Indonesia for 5 years. Cordaid mobilized rapidly within hours of disaster of December 24th, 2004.
Cordaid’s first assessment team arrived in Banda Aceh, the Capital City of Aceh Province, in the night of 6th January 2005.

Following the assessment to Banda Aceh, another team was sent to North Aceh District in the second week of January 2005 to assess damage and health condition in the area. This was the beginning of the project implementation in the Sub District of Seunuddon.
In the beginning of February 2005, Cordaid again sent well experienced assessment team to the Island District of Simeulue. The team divided it self to the whole 8 Sub District of the Island and delivered the current situation of the Island, which was then re-assessed in the mid of February 2005 providing the basic of Cordaid’s Simeulue Project.
Flash flood in Bener Meriah District, Province of NAD
Cordaid was also actively involved in assisting flash flood affected people of the District Bener Meriah in the Province of NAD at end of 2006. Family kits and hygiene kits were distributed to the area.
